Die moderne Industriestadt Kostroma steuern wir an, weil sich hier das Museum für Russische Holzbaukunst befinden soll. Die Beschilderung hier ist aber so dürftig, dass wir mehrfach anhalten und nach dem Weg fragen müssen. Schließlich erbarmt sich ein netter Herr; er fährt voraus und zeigt uns, wohin wir sollen. Das stolze Kloster liegt direkt an der Wolga, und dahinter erstreckt sich ein weitläufiges Gelände, auf dem alte Holzhäuser, Kirchen und Windmühlen gesammelt werden.
Das Museum ist wirklich sehr empfehlenswert, besonders für Zimmerleute und Holztechniker aber auch für Romantiker und Liebhaber russischer Märchen.
